The Director General of TUBSAN Participates in the Global Forum in New York.

New York, United States of America – October 2025: The Director General of the National Center for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (TUBSAN), Mr. Ali Yasin Gurbe, participated in a high-level international symposium on Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (DDR) held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. This global forum, organized by the United Nations Department of Peace Operations in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration, brought together experts, policymakers, and relevant international actors to discuss the latest approaches to rehabilitating and reintegrating former combatants.

During his speech at the symposium, Mr. Gurbe affirmed Somalia’s firm commitment to strengthening national capacities and taking full responsibility in combating extremist ideology and violence. He stressed that ensuring sustainable security and peace in Somalia is a responsibility borne by the Somali people and their government, while international partners continue to play a crucial supporting role through cooperation and capacity-building.

TUBSAN’s active participation in this important international event reflects Somalia’s growing leadership and proactive stance in global peacebuilding efforts, which contributes to promoting stability, reconciliation, and rejecting violent extremism.
